Family Information

Son of Thomas and Catherine Wylie of 34g Calder St, Coatbridge. In his Will dated 12/09/1915 James left all his belongings, property and effects to his mother. From the 1901 Census - Address - 23 Wood St, Coatbridge - Thomas Wylie aged 31, Catherine Wylie aged 28, James Wylie aged 6, John Wylie aged 4, Thomas Wylie aged 2, Jane Wylie aged 7 months. James' Pension was awarded to his mother Catherine.

Additional Information

The Battalion sailed from Avonmouth on the 18/03/1915 and landed at Cape Helles on Gallipoli on the 25/04/1915. On the 08/01/1916 they were evacuated from Gallipoli and moved to Alexandria in Egypt. On the 18/03/1916 they arrived at Marseilles for service in France. They were part of the 87th Brigade, 29th Division. James was involved in the evacuation from Gallipoli and was also wounded on the opening day of the Battle of the Somme and was hospitalised in London. He returned to the trenches in November 1916 and fell just 2 months later.
