Alexander J Wotherspoon

Alexander arrived in France on the 16/12/1914. The 1st (Lowland) Field Company (409th) Royal Engineers were part of the 1st Division. The Division took part in the affairs of Cuinchy : 29th January, 1st and 6th February 1915. Alexander was digging a trench at La Bassee when a shell burst close to him and a splinter hit his back. His wounds were dressed but he died in a Motor Ambulance soon after.
