Son of James (1874 - 19/10/1937) and Grace Forrest Orr (1873 - 24/02/1930) of 127a Buchanan St, Coatbridge. James' father was a Police Constable. James had a sister Marion Orr Kinniburgh (1900 - 31/05/1973). All four members of the family are remembered at the Family Plot in Old Monkland Cemetery. Marion's husband John Kinniburgh (1895 - 08/12/1945) is also remembered there. James' Pension was awarded to his mother of 27a Buchanan St, Coatbridge then his father James of 301d East Muiryhall St, Coatbridge.

Additional Information

The Battalion arrived at Boulogne on the 08/07/1915 and were part of the 47th Brigade, 16th (Irish) Division when James died. James enlisted when he was just 16 years of age and died of influenza at the No.15 Casualty Clearing Station, France just before the Germans were about to seek peace talks. The Battle fought at the Final Advance in Artois, 2nd October - 11th November 1918 : First and Fifth Armies continue the advance in the Artois region, liberating the French coalfields, Lens and Douai. James is also remembered on the Dundyvan Parish Church Roll of Honour and at the Family Plot in Old Monkland Cemetery (see photos) and in the St. Augustine's Parish (book) Roll of Honour.
