Died on the 24/10/1918 of Pneumonia in the Military Hospital, Hamilton

The Battalion arrived at Boulogne on the 20/09/1915 but sailed for Salonika in November 1915. They were part of the 77th Brigade, 26th Division. Thomas arrived in France on the 01/10/1915. The Battalion took part in the Battle of Horseshoe Hill (southwest of Doiran), 10th - 18th August 1916, the capture of the Karajakois, 30th September - 2nd October 1916, the capture of Jenikoi, 3rd - 4th October 1916, the 1st Battle of Doiran, 24th - 25th April 1917, the 2nd Battle of Doiran, 8th - 9th May 1917 and the final break through : A very large scale co-ordinated allied offensive broke the enemy in the area west of Lake Doiran, advancing deep into Serbia, and brought Bulgaria to an Armistice. The Battle of Doiran, 18th - 19th September, the pursuit to the Strumica Valley, 22nd - 30th September 1918. Thomas died in the Military Hospital at Hamilton Barracks on the 24/10/1918 from pneumonia. He is also remembered on the Stewarts and Lloyds Roll of Honour (see photos).
