Killed in Action on the 30/11/1916 at Maroc, France

James' wife received a letter from the Regimental Chaplain informing her of his death. He had been 19 months on active service. James is listed as 6th BATTALION on the Coatbridge Memorial (his original Battalion). The 6th (Service) Battalion embarked at Liverpool on the 09/07/1915 and sailed to Gallipoli via Mudros. They landed at Anzac Cove on the 05/08/1915. On the 29/09/1915 they moved via Mudros to Salonika. James embarked on the 24/07/1915 (see Medal Index Card). James transferred to the 2nd Battalion and they were part of the 73rd Brigade, 24th Division when James fell. He is also listed as aged 33 on his Grave. James was Killed in Action 8 days after his 36th birthday. James was formerly with the Royal Irish Fusiliers (18506). He is also remembered on the St. Patrick's (book) Roll of Honour.
