The Battalion arrived at Boulogne on the 22/08/1914 and were part of the 10th Brigade, 4th Division. Patrick arrived on the 27/05/1915. HE WAS THE ONLY SOLDIER IN THE 2nd BATTALION ROYAL DUBLIN FUSILIERS TO BE KILLED IN ACTION ON THE 08/08/1915 AT LEALVILLERS (see photo War Diary 30). The Battalion War Diary states - August 8th 1915 - LEALVILLERS : "Relieved 1st Battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment in trenches on the right of line previously occupied". The Battalion War 2 days previously states - LEALVILLERS : "On the 6th at 2.30pm Captain Massy-Westropp was giving a bomb demonstration and a Mills Hand Grenade exploded prematurely. Captain Massy-Westropp and 12 Other Ranks being wounded". SEE PHOTOS x 30 FOR THE 2nd BATTALION ROYAL DUBLIN FUSILIERS WAR DIARY FROM MAY - AUGUST 1915. This covers from Patrick's arrival in France until he was Killed in Action and states the Casualties for the Battalion in August were : 3 Killed in Action and 18 Wounded in Action and 14 Accidentally Wounded.
