John arrived in France on the 22/11/1915. The 119th Brigade were part of the 38th (Welsh) Division until the 21/05/1917. From then on they were the 119th Army Brigade and were attached to many Divisions (see photos x 2). The 119th were attached to the 29th Division from the the 15/05/1918. John's fathers name is listed as Samuel on his Army Register of Soldiers Effects and on his Pension Records. See Directory for John's brother William's page. John is buried in Boulogne Eastern Cemetery. Unusually the headstones are laid flat in this Cemetery. This is due to the sandy soil. 5,577 WW1 men are buried here.
