According to parents Marriage Certificate James, Hannah, Thomas and Agnes were William's half brothers and sisters. William's Pension was awarded to his father Thomas on the 30/03/1917 then to his mother Margaret of Diamond Spring Farm, River Rd, Chatham, New Jersey, USA after the death of his father.

William arrived in France on the 16/02/1915. The Royal Field Artillery was the most numerous arm of the artillery, the horse-drawn Royal Field Artillery was responsible for the medium calibre guns and howitzers deployed close to the front line and was reasonably mobile. The Royal Horse Artillery was responsible for light, mobile guns that provided firepower in support of the cavalry. It was the senior arm of the artillery, but the one that developed and grew least during the Great War. In 1914 the normal establishment of the Royal Horse Artillery was one Battery to each Brigade of cavalry. William Died of Wounds and enteric fever at the Stationary Hospital, Karachi. William is also commemorated on the Delhi Memorial (Face 1 India Gate).
