Died of Bronchial Pneumonia on the 29/12/1918 in No. 82 General Hospital, Constantinople, Turkey

The Battalion arrived at Le Havre on the 20/12/1914 and were part of the 81st Brigade, 27th Division. They later moved to Salonika on the 12/12/1915. Patrick embarked from Marseilles on the 06/12/1917 and disembarked in Salonika on the 20/12/1917. Patrick was admitted to 82nd General Hospital, Constantinople on the 18/12/1918 suffering from Influenza. Bronchial Pneumonia set in and he died on the 29/12/1918. Patrick's mother Mary received the following - a wristlet purse, a black pocket watch, a wallet, photos, cards, letters, a notebook, 2 devotional books, a religious emblem, a leather waist belt and leather strap. The Division in 1918 prior to Patrick's death : The 27th Division lost a number of units in mid 1918 ; they were transferred to France. The 1st - 30th September 1918 : the final offensive in Salonika, including the Division's part in the capture of the Roche Noir Salient (1st - 2nd September), the passage of the Vardar river and pursuit to the Strumica valley (22nd - 30th September). Hostilities with Bulgaria ceased on the 30th of September, with the 27th Division by then in the area Kosturino - Rabrovo - Cestovo. The Division continued to advance and passed Krupnik by the end of October. 27th Division was ordered to halt and turn about on the 2nd of November, embarking in December for operations on the Black Sea. It reached Constantinople on the 19th of December and opened HQ at Tiflis in January 1919.
